I used my blockcard crypto debit card on...Amazon!!!

Difficulty Level - Eaaaaaasssyyyyy

Its our second post in the "I did what with crypto" series... in our first post (click here)... we bought skittles from a physical store!

In this post we are going online!!!... to buy one of these

My Ingredients

The rest of the story - How it works

  1. I signed up for a blockcard crypto debit card, and once sign up was completed (about a 7 minute effort), I immediately received a virtual crypto debit card. Note: There is also a physical card that comes in the mail 7-14 days later.

  2. I transferred some crypto to my blockcard account by sending USDT (Tether) to my account. (Tether is a type of crypto that is designed to maintain a static price; meaning that 1 USDT always equals 1 US Dollar ALWAYS)

  3. Blockcard automatically converts my received USDT to a USD balance.

  4. ALERT: Blockcard is not great at showing you the conversion rate or fees before it converts your USDT to USD. You only see your deposit NET of fees after the fact. This is not cool and I've given them the feedback.

  5. The rest is easy - I simply attached my blockcard debit card to my amazon account and made by purchase...

So what?

I can actually use crypto (specifically my crypto.com debit card) to buy anything that i can use my regular debit/credit card for; including online shopping at Amazon.

How it needs to get better?

Blockcard specifically needs greater transparency in the conversion of crypto (USDT) to USD. They need to show the conversion rate and fees before the conversation is performed, even if its an estimate. This way when i send crypto to my blockcard account i know exactly how much in dollars will be deposited.

Now you!!!

Leave me a message, or better... go do something... anything with crypto and tell us about it...maybe we will even post your story in this series!!
